I was glad when they said unto me, "Let us go to the House of the Lord" –Psalm 122:1

There are three celebrations of the Eucharist on Sundays. 8:00 is Rite One which uses Elizabethan English and is without music. The 9:30 Rite Three service is lively and informal especially suited for families with young children. At 10:30 is Rite Two, a traditional service with choir.

The 9:30 service is appropriate for families with young children. It is a very vibrant, engaging service featuring contemporary music. Budding young musicians also join in regularly. A songbook was created and is placed in the pews so all can sing along. The children and their families are invited up to the front of the church for the blessing and celebration of the Eucharist. Different families volunteer each week to assist with the service including the Eucharist and provide snacks during Fellowship after the service. Sunday School follows the service during the school year, where children learn new songs as part of the curriculum.

The music at 10:30 reflects a variety of styles using music from the 1982 Hymnal and Wonder, Love and Praise, as well as music from other traditions. The adult choir regularly sings at this service from September through June and rehearses Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the parish hall. The choir is open to anyone who desires to make a joyful noise. We are fortunate to have a small Flentrop pipe organ and we often use piano and other instruments to accompany choir and congregation.

St. Johnâs Church is blessed to have a diligent and dedicated Altar Guild. Those who serve on the Altar Guild make sure the flowers are arranged, the brass is polished, and everything is in place for the celebration of the Eucharist. The team is also responsible for the care if the altars, chapel and sacristy and they serve on a rotating basis. The Altar Guild is open to all.

Acolytes serve as torch bearers and crucifer. Young people and adults are encouraged to participate and serve on a rotation.

Lay Readers are responsible for the first reading, psalm and Epistle. Readers serve on a rotation and we welcome all to this ministry.

An integral component of our worship is our cadre of ushers. Ushers' ministry provides hospitality to those entering God's house, to ease the worship of the congregation and assist with the smooth flow of each service. This team is open to all interested women, men and young people, and generally they serve on a rotation at the service they customarily attend.
